Greetings!
I've been looking over the features of Przemo's modded software, and really like what I see. I'm very interested in giving it a try. Currently I am running the standard phpBB 2.xxxx on my forum. (latest release)
However, being that I am not extremely skilled with php, I am a bit hesitant to install it because of fear of corrupting or even possibly losing the data I have on my forum presently.
In the instructions, it says to upload all the files except the "config.php" which should remain as the same file originally on the existing forum. The instructions also say that you use the original SQL database from the existing forum for the Przemo upgraded version. Does the "config.php" file actually store the existing forum settings and information, or are they part of the SQL database? Does this mean that all the member info and posts that are on the existing forum will be transferred to the upgrade without any loss of information?
I thank you in advance for your assistance and input on this upgrade, and saving me a whole lot of problems with forum members in case I do something wrong. I would MUCH rather ask you BEFORE I try to install the new software, rather than mess it up and go through the headaches of trying to find out what I did wrong in order to repair any mistakes I might make.
Thank you again!

DragonzLeyr, config.php stores only information about the database. It's essential information, 'cause otherwise the script wouldn't have access to the database. All data (like posts, users, forum settings etc.) is stored in that database. Theoretically, no damage to database should happen while updating. However, to perfectly safe you can do a copy of it, which you can restore if the update fails. |

Azwel, thanks... I might give it a try. Think it would be worth waiting for a new English version of his latest board before I do? Any idea on when it might be released?
Thanks again! |

You know... I really don't get it why Przemo says there's no English version. Just download the Polish one and change the language to English. It's already built in. You don't have to wait. |
