English version - Pruning Unread Posts
spacegoose - 06-04-2007, 21:46 Temat postu: Pruning Unread Posts User's are getting this message:
Your account exceed maximum amount of unread posts: 1000 Information about unread posts was removed, without posts writen through last: 3 days.
Removed unread posts: 1492
You may read posts or mar all as read.
You can use search to find posts writen through last choosed time.
Is there anyway to prevent the display of this message entirely, and do the pruning action silently?
For example, I like the pruning, and want it to continue it, but I want to do it silently, I don't want users to see this message.

Hey.
There is some options on it.
Goto your "ACP" then "General admin", "configuration", "Additional"
Then theres four options (at the top):
"Cleaning read history"
"How many days keep unread posts"
"Max amount of unread posts per user"
"Prunning unread posts without posts write throught X last days"
You could raise the "Max amount of unread posts per user" to get the message less often. Or mess with some other of the options to get a "system" to suit you.
Hope this helps

Thanks for the info - I know about the options - but the system performs poorly as the unread posts build-up for each user - so I want to keep the unread posts limit small.
I want the system to prune these after a limit, but I don't want the user to see the message.
Also - the message does not make any sense. I cannot come up with a translation that makes any sense either ... (because i don't understand the original message ...).
Thanks,
sg

Ah, wel.. I will try and find you a solution. Which will probably require minor modifications to the forum.
