English version - unread posts
spacegoose - 30-03-2007, 04:48 Temat postu: unread posts i would like to understand what this means:
Your account exceeds maximum amount of unread posts: 1000 Information about unread posts was removed, without posts writen through last: 3 days.
Removed unread posts: 641
You may read posts or mark all as read.
You can use search to find posts writen through last choosed time.
is it 1000 posts or 3 days? 641 is the no. of posts that are no longer tracked? the no. of posts since 3 days or beyond 1000?
i would just like to translate this more completely:
-without posts writen through last: 3 days.
-Removed unread posts: 641
thanks,
s7

thanks - yes i know where to adjust this, and i generally know what it's doing, but i need to understand better so i can make the language clearer to the users.
e.g.
i would just like to translate this more completely:
-without posts writen through last: 3 days.
-Removed unread posts: 641
nicon - 30-03-2007, 19:31
language => lang_english => lang_main.php
Change there
spacegoose - 30-03-2007, 22:50
yes - i have the language set properly already. i am just looking for a better translation - currently it doesn't make a lot of sense in english. thanks, sg

U can't change it in type U want?
Maybe U don't understand me... In language => lang_english => lang_main.php U can change this text.
spacegoose - 31-03-2007, 01:12
yes yes yes - i know where to change it. thank you for your patience.
my question really is: what should it say, for example, what does
Your account exceeds maximum amount of unread posts: 1000 Information about unread posts was removed, without posts writen through last: 3 days.
Removed unread posts: 641 You may read posts or mark all as read. You can use search to find posts writen through last choosed time.
really mean -
i know it means only under 1000 posts are tracked for read vs unread but - what does:
"without posts writen through last: 3 days" mean?
what does: "Removed unread posts: x" mean?
i know it has something to do with 3 days (i set in the ACP) ... and maybe the no. of posts not tracked after limit or time period reached?
thanks again for your help.

It's like that...
There is a person, who's last time was on Ur forum 10 days ago.
In this 10 days on forum all people write 1243 posts. In 7 days 1024, so when this person will enter Ur forum will c only 219 new post to read (: Rest of them (1024 r now 'readed').
spacegoose napisał/a: | what does: "Removed unread posts: x" mean? |
System remove information about x unread posts (1024 in this way).
It's minimum, so if U will set 1400 posts, person after 10 days (1243 unread posts) will c all those posts, if U will set 1244, person still will c those posts. But if 1200, person after 10 days will c only 43 unread posts.
I got hope U understand me. And got hope that i understood Ur problem [;
Best regards, nicon
spacegoose - 01-04-2007, 18:58 Temat postu: thanks - i think it means ... is this correct???:
$lang['Pruning_unread_posts'] = 'Your account exceeds the maximum number of unread posts: <b>%s</b> Information about unread posts was removed, not including those posts posted within the last: <b>%s</b> days.<br />Deleted unread posts: <b>%s</b>.';
any way to to keep this working but disable the information upon login (do it silently) - or quickly redirect to index?
