Temat postu: Keyword URL's ?
Hi all ive been looking around the web and noticed that alot of VB forums are using Keyword Url's is there such a thing for PHPBB przemo ?

E.G

Normal Phpbb URL to a tread :

http://www.tottenhamhotsp...opics12/211.htm

Keyword Url on VB Forum would be :

http://www.tottenhamhotsp...test_Asset.html

Which make's it friendlier to search engines and would get higher rankings !!

Would be great if there is something like this ...

if you want the topic titles in the url, check this:

Try this one:

both are only possible if your webhoster allows you to edit the .htacces and has mod_rewrite installed on the server.
most webhoster allow both :)

i would suggest that you move to Padberg-IT:
http://padberg-it.com/en/index.html
It has really good prices, a good support and the webspace packages include everything you couls wish for.
at least thats my experience with the german padberg-it:
http://padberg-it.de/de/index.html
i was at 4 different webhosters before and i had quite some trouble with 2 of them..no support and i dint get as many trafic as i was promised to get and stuff like that, but padberg-it was excgellent so far and there was no problem at all when i moved my whole website to their webserver.

but godaddy does not seem to support mod_rewrite or .htaccess modifications and is probably not givving you support on that.. :(

Oh i just done a test written here

http://www.webmasterworld.com/apache/3205314.htm

and i have got mod rewrite !!!

so why wouldn't the keyword urls work ?

JA$ON - 28-02-2007, 01:51

if you did everything the way it was wrritten than it should work perfectly.
it also works on my site without problems.
it probably still has to do with your webhoster, try the webhoster support, they should know.
or try to install the mod again. from scratch.

btw: if you have this mod installed than the "helped point" system wont work any more so you'll have to switch it off in admin panel. i just noticed that today. just in case you succeed in installing the mod.

One of the many reasons I transfered my site from godaddy was this. Be careful with them - they tried to screw me over.
